The Nuts and Bolts of a Paint and Sip

Ever thought, that you’re about to be in over your head?  Yet,  you take the dive anyway?  That’s how I felt with my first paint and sip.  Leaning on good old Google to get me through.

There are tons and I do me tons of articles available.  I found that they can only suggest certain things, such as ” how to throw a canvas paint party ” or ” supplies need for paint and sip “.  Which help propel you in the right direction.

For your first paint and sip to be truly successful,…

My First Family Paint and Sip
Well we did it.  The Laceyville Business Association asked, if I wanted to host their first paint and sip?  Being a member and intrigued by the idea, I threw my hat into the ring.  Families love this kind of event and it’s positive exposure for the town. I’ll also get a taste of what it takes to organize such an event.

First and foremost, The Laceyville Business Association’s* VP, Dawn, was a joy to work with.  She made sure I had want I need and the support for setup and clean up.  (*I really didn’t know what to expect. This was my first so, I thought there would be more hitches. Dawn and I tried to plan ahead as much as possible.  I felt very fortunate that it went over as well as it did)

We had thirteen r.s.v.p. and fourteen showed.  I’d planned for the possibility of extras.  So that helped.

We had a mixture of both genders, along with one or two parents present. (We worked it out, that it wasn’t a babysitting service and, children under the age of eight needed to be accompanied by an adult.)

Besides it being a fun experience for me.  I also noticed, the bonding experience the child and parent were having.  In a world that has the need to move at the speed of light, time slowed for just a couple of hours. It was just parent and child slowing the holiday crunch.  I observed how, like having dinner at a cozy restaurant,  all that matter was the conversation between family.

Would I do this again.  Yes.

Patreon and Twitter

I’m On Patreon!

After trying different platforms. I’ve a decided on Patreon and Twitter as my mainstays. There’s several issues I don’t touch on twitter and feel more comfortable to display them on Patreon. I can be an outgoing person in public and enjoy socializing with my local Patrons. Who have been more than generous and supportive. I thank them, because without them, I regress back to my natural state of introvertness. (term used by psychologist Carl Jung, google it.)

I love Medium, it’s one of my go to sources for varies articles and opinions. When I need down time articles such as, James Altucher “The Ultimate Guide To Being An Introvert

can be very helpful in reminding the importance of recharging. Other great people and article to read are:

Jon Westenberg at Creatomic: for inspiration.

Jack Conte at Patreon

Fractured Atlas (I keep an eye on there Grant Deadlines and Opportunities Postings) Good Reads and insights for Artist.

Art + Marketing: Even though, I was an art director, almost uhum+ years ago. I still like to keep up with how the marketing industry is evolving. They provide great insight into getting out there.

Clay Rivers: social perspectives. I check with this wonderful writer’s post on a regular basis. As an artist, I feel, understanding where people are coming from helps me become a better human. I’m always looking for new perspective on different social issues. (Just to make sure my own moral compass is on track.)

There are many others I follow that offer so much. Search high and low, then surround yourself with greatness. It’ll make you better at everything you do.

Scratch Board was something of an experiment for me. Wanted to apply my skills and have the understanding of application. Really found that it help to think in the reverse with this medium.  Every artist should give it a try.

Thinking back, everything starts with pencils.  From doodles to the full fledged piece.  I must have hundreds of renderings boxed up somewhere.  Pencil is where I began and so realized it is the skeleton of all my creations.  Funny, this is one of a few pieces I didn’t take to pen or any other medium.  As I unearth more pencils, I’ll upload them.  Until then enjoy.
